This three-part, mostly parallel-harmony song is pretty simple for groups to learn and quite satisfying to sing. Sometimes when I teach this and don’t have tons of time or want to use it as an audience participation song, I just teach the melody, and that’s fun to sing, too.

The song was inspired by a passage I love in Robin Wall Kimmerer’s gorgeous book Braiding Sweetgrass, about cultivating our sense of belonging to wild places, to the natural world – and how love and care and a sense of responsibility for those places will flow so naturally and beautifully from there. I AGREE!
